What I Do

What I do:

  • Light carpentry (please check Might Do info below)
  • Shelving in basements, garages, closets, stairways, etc.
  • Storm doors, storm windows
  • Doorknob and lock installation
  • Picture/mirror hanging
  • Grab bars
  • Caulking
  • Light fixture/switch/outlet replacement, lamp rewiring/repair
  • Garbage disposal repair/replacement
  • Window and screen repair, sash weight repair
  • Install blinds, shades, curtain rods
  • Stair railings
  • Dryer venting (outside walls only, no drywall work)
  • Bi-/tri-fold & sliding door repair
  • Furniture assembly and some furniture repair
  • Cleaning and organizing garages/basements, moving heavy things around
  • Install over-range microwaves

The really little things:

Change a bulb, furnace filters, move things, connect a hose or a showerhead…… A honey-do list with a dozen little things on it is often my favorite job. Please don’t feel hesitant to ask me to do this.

What I might do:

  • Plumbing: I can usually fix a leaky faucet, change a faucet, replace toilet tank parts, fix under-sink drips. I can deal with a lot of clogs unless they are further down the line, like root problems. I don’t install new plumbing and I don’t work with copper. I probably don’t want to work on a pedestal sink.
  • Dishwasher installation: I have a lot of experience replacing existing dishwashers but I do not do the plumbing and electrical involved to install one where there wasn’t one before.
  • Bathroom vents: I might be able to replace an existing one. I do not install one where there wasn’t one before.
  • Painting: I am not a professional painter and I do not do complete interiors/exteriors. I’ll be glad to consider single rooms or small areas, hard-to-reach spots or just touch-up work.
  • Rain gutter repair/patching (no installation)
  • Shingle repair and roof vent installation (depends on the roof)
  • Carpentry: My interest and enthusiasm for carpentry has seen brighter days. If your problem is rotted exterior wood such as windowsills or porch floors and steps, there’s a good chance I will pass on the job. Rotten wood always runs deeper than you think and thus the job takes longer and the price goes up and I’m supposed to be at another job and then it starts raining……..you see where this is going?

What I don’t do:

  • Roofing/siding
  • Drywall/plaster
  • Rain gutter installation and cleaning
  • Flooring/carpeting
  • I can’t waterproof your basement
  • Major appliance repair (washer, dryer, fridge, etc)
  • Ice dams
  • Doors. I do not install the following: Primary entrance doors / any interior doors / patio doors / garage doors  (I do install storm doors)
  • Countertops/cabinets
  • Tile work
  • Crown moulding
  • Insulation
  • Drop ceilings
  • Water heaters or softeners
  • Deck staining
  • Pressure washing
  • Haul junk
